Theme: Unity

Should we strive for unity?

Star Trek Beyond (2016)

Is unity even possible…?

Sometimes it feels like life would be easier if we didn’t have to deal with everyone. That being alone would be better. This can be especially prevalent during the holidays when with the family. Everyone getting on each other’s nerves, feeling so difficult to just get along.

Back when we were just cavemen, it was obvious that we are safer and stronger together. So it is interesting to note that many times that we unite and come together is after a tragic event… Another occasion in which brings people together is celebrations and feasts. But these are short lived. We come together and then go off and about or everyday lives where it feels so separated.

Unity is maintained when there is a cause or purpose.

So are we united… But what unites us? Sharing the same values or religion? Or living in the same country or city? Cheering for the same sports-team? That we are all human?

Is unity even achievable?

Gladiator (2000)

Perhaps what unites us is that we are on the same team. All coming together for a purpose. That we all have shared ideals, values, and goals.

But then how can we stay united when there seems to be faulty leadership, time and time again. The story of corrupt governments and leaders is older than any. It is as if containing and holding the power over other people is too tempting to contain. That any individual given too much power over another that power will be abused.

That being a good person will only leave you vulnerable. Can “the people” be trusted to guide society or should a strong willed individual be given the power to lead? There seems to be misjudgment and flawed characters everywhere. For after all, we are just human.

How can we all agree in what is the right way to lead and govern ourselves? How can we come together while having disagreeances? In the U.S. we are so polarized and split… with so much conflicting data and media… how can we stay united through all of this?

How will we come together?

V for Vendetta (2005)

There needs to be leaders. And there needs to be followers. Now how do we make sure that each is doing their part. There seems to be some separation between these two groups. How do we keep them in check?

In today’s world there are so many people. The population is a large body. When there is so many people it can feel as if the leadership is disconnected from the actual people. That they don’t act in accordance with what we actually want. That perhaps that act on their own will and interests.

Then within the public it feels like we are so separated. That we are divided. That we have these identifications and groups. This them vs me. Democrat vs Republican. Pro life or pro choice. Conservative or Liberal. So much polarization.

It feels like we are wasting our time and energy fighting amongst ourselves. All the while we keep ourselves distracted from what is actually going on. We are divided and not being united. We are all getting upset and aggravated and it keeps us grid locked from making any progress.

How do we unite and come together?

I believe we need to stand together and put away our differences. We need to see that we are all human. We have flaws. We have disagreements. We may not even like each other. But we must start focusing on what we do have in common. What we do agree on. Issues such as abortion, gun laws, taxes are so complex and complicated. We need to build and reconnect on a strong foundation. One where we focus on a better future. One where well being is more important than profit. One where we provide opportunity for all. One where we help and build each other up and not put people down.

There is nothing wrong in disagreeing with another. What is wrong is trying to change another person. Let them be. As long as they are not harming anyone then let them be. We care so much in what other people are doing. We all need to chill out and stop policing people around. All this politically correct non-sense. This WOKE crap is not helping. It is very obvious when you are virtue signaling, and guess what it comes off ingenuine.

Allow yourself to be how you feel. Stop criticizing and being so hard all the time. Enjoy what you are passionate about. And share it to the world. Or don’t. Just do what makes you feel good. Build people up. Don’t talk down to people when they step out and do something different. Find awareness in your actions. Be mindful how you treat yourself and others. Stand up for what you believe in. Be brave. Be strong. And keep going.

emotions can get the best of us… i get it .. we can get triggered and react in a way in which is out of character… its okay…

awareness and self reflection is key… self love and forgiveness is the door… but will power and choice is what moves you through the threshold
