Creative Confidence by Tom Kelley and David Kelley
Are you playing it too safe?
Michael Scott from The Office who’s played by Steve Carell is the perfect example of who you need to embrace. So oblivious of himself and just puts himself out there. An emotional human that is so unaware of other people emotions that its comical. Okay probably not exactly who you need to embrace, but his tenacity.
To start its just about showing up. Getting out there and starting can be the hardest part, but the sidelines are no place to be. You can hold out and wait for the timing and fiddle around trying to perfect things or just be caught in your head thinking and thinking… But this is not what you want to do. I know that you know that you don’t want to be this person.
So how do you make the leap and get out there?
Pretty simple and probably not the answer you’re hoping for but just make the move. Take actionable steps and keep making progress. If this seems impossible start by breaking tasks up into baby baby steps. Don’t set yourself up for failure with unrealistic goals and then quitting because it didn’t go perfect. Meh, what a failed attempted. That sounds more like a try, and we all know there is no try… You either going to do it or not.
You gotta start somewhere so just start. Think about the momentum that you are creating. How can you build up enough action steps where you start to pick up speed. The amount and quality starts to increase as you continuously work at it. You can do.
Its hardest in the beginning because the effort you are making is hardly noticeable. Those big outcomes only come a constant and consistent effort. In a world of immediate gratification brought on by technology patience is not that popular today. So you gotta stay motivated and find that inner determination that will pick you up when you fall. Failing is part of the growth. Allow it to be the teacher. Don’t take it personally. Because true failure is giving up.
“When something bad happens you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let is destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.”
Dr. Seuss
May it be you want to find a creative outlet and explore what your imagination can cook up, or perhaps you have ideas about what could be… Whatever it is, you’ll never know unless you start it. Talk is cheap. Ideas are cheap. Execution is king. Make it happen, but hey in the end its just up to you.
As always,
Peace and love my friends – Keep a chill warmth out there, cheers!
