A Story of Stories

A clear cut and direct example of this is the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). By far the most impressive group of movies that hold true to a timeline, while string characters, plots, and storylines within multiple movies. A mental image comes to mind… A wave. Each character, may it be Thor, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and so on; have their own series as they go off on their unique adventures having some intermingling and entanglement with one another within each others movies. Then Boom! They clash together in the Avengers series. Then again set back up to ripple out in their own journeys, yet very connected and interwoven.

BUT, NOW HERE’S THE KICKER. What if its even more entangled and connected. What if these: Directors, Producers, and Actors are playing a bigger game. That they are dropping clues and hints that they are speaking to the whole. For example, The movie, Chef (2014). Jon Favreau stars in, as a chef who gets involved in a game. This game, well is no game, but is Twitter. He is unaware of the ripple effect that his words and messages have as he gets caught up in a viral retweet that sends him on a whole adventure. Robert Downey Jr. is makes an appearance in this movie. (There is this weird scene where Downey gives a look shocking similar to his cameos back in the day as a kid, say Weird Science(1985) for a throwback.)

Again, back to Chef, where Favreau is a chef. Let break that down. A chef creates something you digest as he or she formulates the meal with different ingredients and techniques. Sounds like a metaphor to me. Even more, Favreau has, in the movie, a chefs knife tattoo on his forearm. My translation, “I’m playing for real here boy and girls, this one goes deep”. Relating to knifes and swords… It’s a symbol relating to mind, thoughts, and air. I feel and think he is cooking up a spell of uh connection, if you ask me.

BTW Jon Favreau is connected to the MCU to the very start. Not only making appearances on film but being a Producer for the Iron Man series, plus the Avenger series. And lets not forget that Iron Man (2008) was the start of the MCU, even though it was just a hint/clue. (When Nick Gury, Samual L. Jackson, Said to Iron Man in the end credits, “You think you’re the only super here in this world? Mr. Stark you’ve become part of a bigger Universe, you just don’t know yet… I’m here to talk to you about the Avenger initiates.” Link to scene: here

(Hey I could be wrong, and its just a movie, and I’m looking too deep into this. If you’re on the fence, just watch for your self and keep watching… The patterns and connections are so obvious at times that you feel the characters are talking directly to YOU.) But, hey… This is just a thought.

How They Are Connected

Well I just hit the the tip of the iceberg with the connection above with Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr., and realized that typing/blogging is hard medium to explain this over. In life it’s always better to show rather than tell. (Hint: Videos coming soon!)

Why Listen

Well, that up to you. But why I listen is because it gives meaning not only to the film, but to life in general. Films use symbols, themes, and ideas to tell a story that we all can relate to. That’s pretty darn impressive. For the matter that we are all very diverse and different, but film makers find ways to connect and relate to us all (for the most part).

My other reason, is because it’s like a puzzle or game that you start to become part of… And it connects you the viewer to what is happening on screen. Takes interactive film and games to the next level (ex. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch).

How to Play

Gotta start somewhere, so really just start watching. Everything is fair game. I will go into more detail and the how, but the point here is to look a little deeper and start seeing when the film / characters are referencing something…

Ciao 4 Now. Peace & Love my friends!
